Prithvi Shaw became a household name after his stint in ICC U-19 World Cup 2018, the tournament which India went on to win. Along with Prithvi Shaw, Shaheen Shah Afridi too played in U-19 for India's arch rival 'Pakistan'.

Now, Afridi has earned his maiden Test call for three match Test series against New Zealand that begins next week. With him Saad Ali is also included in the 15 member squad for the first two Tests.

Shaheen Shah Afridi made his ODI debut in Asia Cup 2018 against Afghanistan and played against West Indies in his T20I debut.

Fakhar Zaman and Shadab Khan are rested to recover fully from their respective knee and groin niggles and might rejoin the team for the third match.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in a statement said that, the decision to include Afridi was taken on the basis of his current form. Afridi has been on a roll in the ongoing ODI series against New Zealand bagging wickets at a phenomenal average of 10.5 runs. In the two contests at Abu Dhabi so far, the 18-year-old has picked up eight wickets.
