PM Modi's Make in India gets a boost; Global leader Belden Inc. opens manufacturing unit in India

American manufacturer of networking, connectivity, and cable products – Belden, who provides security solutions for mission-critical application in enterprise and industrial markets, has opened its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Chakan, Pune.The company has done an investment of around INR 250 Cr and the facility is spread over an area of 24,000 sqm.

Also, the project has been executed with the support from Mega Project Program of the Indian Government, and is credited with being the first truly 'One Belden' factory, with capabilities to serve multiple customer markets and applications of the Belden Group of brands.


Belden, with the intention to expand its presence by setting up this manufacturing hub, will cater to the customers of Indian region, who are making huge investments in sophisticated automation with a single-point solution for mission-critical signal transmission and management requirements.

"With this mega project, Belden seeks to address the fast evolving needs of Indian customers for mission critical applications in the transportation, energy, smart buildings, process automation, factory automation and broadcast markets," said Ashish Chand, MD Asia Pacific Belden Inc to Business Standard.

"The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology that will also allow us to serve other export geographies including the US, Middle East, South East Asia and China," added Ashish Chand.

The project is divided into two phases. The first phase with an investment of Rs. 140 Cr was completed in September 2018 while the second phase is yet to start. The later phase has an additional Rs 110 Cr of investment. The project will commission in 2019, utilising the full capacity. Also, it will provide direct and indirect employment opportunities to more than 300 people.
