Critically acclaimed Hindi film Queen (2014) starring Kangana Ranaut will be remade in Telugu.

The Telugu version of the film will see Baahubali series actress Tamannah Bhatia playing the titular role. The film will be produced by Manu Kumaran under the banner of Mediente Films. and directed by National award-winning director G. Neelakanta Reddy whereas, the original Hindi version was helmed by Vikas Bahl. A source close to the production house states, “Tamannaah was initially approached for both the versions and wasn’t comfortable contributing to two films simultaneously since it involved two different languages and two different directors, hence she opted for the Telugu version. Moreover, the Tamil version makers were in discussion with her for over 4 months when they decided to launch the film but there were no concrete decisions taken and hence she gave the first preference to the Telugu version.”

When contacted Tamannaah Bhatia to confirm the news she said, “Queen is an interesting film and I have always been motivated by roles that help alleviate women empowerment in some form. I am very excited to be helming the Telugu version and can’t wait to start shooting next month. This is the first time I’m working with Neelakanta Reddy and I’m sure together we will create magic on the 70 mm screen.”

Telugu remake is said to go on floors from October 25, 2017, onwards. where the entire film will be shot in an international locale and will release mid of next year.

Apart from Telugu remake Vikas Bahl’s Queen will also have Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam remakes.
