Shakun Batra's Kapoor and Sons had a fair opening at the Box Office as the film raked in around Rs 6.80 crore on its opening day.
While the film was off to a slow start in the morning, it witnessed an upward trend in the biz towards the late evening shows. The family drama performed the best at Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. Kapoor and Sons sprung a surprise at a mass dominated circuit like CI (Central India) where it raked in around Rs 21.5 lakh - impressive collections considering the urban appeal of the film.

Being a metro-centric film, the biz ideally would have witnessed a good jump in collections today. However the collections will be dented by the much-anticipated India-Pakistan T20 match later today.
The film has garnered positive reports among the critics as well as the audiences and stands a chance to trend well at the Box Office.
The Karan Johar production has been made on a budget of Rs 38 crore and the film looks all set to sail past the first week with ease at the ticket window.
