Rangoon postponed to 2017. Could this mean good news for Jagga Jasoos?

Rangoon, the much-anticipated period drama starring Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut and Saif Ali Khan, was slated to release on 30 September 2016.

However, the release has been pushed to 24 February 2017 since the makers need more time to work on post-production.

This leaves the coveted Gandhi Jayanti slot, 2 October, open for a film release.

Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif's Jagga Jasoos, which was slated to release alongside Housefull 3 on 3 June, was pushed because the shooting had been delayed.

However, with the last schedule of Jagga Jasoos expected to be wrapped up within next 20 days, the 2 October 2016 slot would be perfect for the release of the film. If Anurag Basu and team decide to pick 30 September for the release, it would give them a two-week open slot at the ticket window, allowing the film to reap the benefit of the Gandhi Jayanti holiday.

All major release dates for 2016 have already been pre-booked. If Jagga Jasoos does not hit the screens on 30 September, the team of the film will be left with two options - either a clash with a big film in 2016 or a release in the first quarter of 2017.

It is interesting to note that Ranbir Kapoor has another major release slotted to release this year. His film, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, directed by Karan Johar, will hit the big screen this Diwali alongside Ajay Devgn's Shivaay.
