SRK, Aamir Khan security downgraded, Akshay Kumar retains cover
The Mumbai Police have downgraded the security of 40 celebrities after an annual assessment of threat perception. The 40 celebrities include stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan who were provided additional security after their comments about the growing intolerance in India.
The security provided to Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra - who received threats after the release of PK - were withdrawn completely. The Mumbai Police has clarified that reviewing the security cover for celebrities is a routine practise.
Actors like Akshay Kumar, Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt will remain under cover of Mumbai Police because of constant death threats and extortion calls from the underworld.
On the other hand, Indian legends, Amitabh Bachchan, Lata Mangeshkar, Dilip Kumar will be provided round the clock security.
