Shankar has finished shooting two-thirds of his upcoming sci-fi, Robot 2.0, with Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar.
The film, which will be mounted on a massive budget of Rs 350 crore, is the costliest Indian film till date and the makers have promised never-seen-before visuals and action sequences. The work on visual effects is underway at Chennai. The producer of the film, Raju Mahalingam from Lyca confirmed that the team will unveil the first look poster as well as hinted at the possibility of a launching a short teaser on 20 November, 2016. He Tweeted,
"Make in India a reality on celluloid!! 2.0 team delivers Global Standard's!! We will tease you'll on 20th Nov-2016."
The makers are expected to officially announce the release date of the film on 20 November, 2016. However media speculation is rife that it will hit the big screen during the Diwali 2017 weekend. The movie will mark the Tamil film debut of Akshay Kumar.
