Rangoon Opening Weekend (Rangoon Opening Weekend)

Rangoon recorded very poor collections in its opening weekend as the film raked in around Rs 5.50 crore on Sunday taking the 3 day total to approximately Rs 17.50.

The film carried a poor word of mouth as the biz didn’t saw any sort of growth over the weekend. Friday was the biggest day in terms of business for this Shahid Kapoor – Kangana Ranaut film as the collections dropped on Saturday followed by a further collapse on Sunday.

Day Wise Collections:
Friday: Rs 6.07 crore
Saturday: Rs 5.90 crore (Early Estimate)
Sunday: Rs 5.50 crore (Early Estimate)
Total: Rs 17.47 crore

Rangoon is the first disaster of 2017 as the distributors Viacom 18 will lose around Rs 50 crore from the film. Made on a budget of 60 crore, Sajid Nadiadwala sold the film further to Viacom 18 for Rs 67 crore thereby making a table profit of Rs 7 crore.

The studio invested Rs 13 crore towards print and publicity which takes the landing cost of Rangoon at Rs 80 crore.

The theatrical share from Rangoon will be lesser than the print and publicity expense which explains the magnitude of loss the studio will suffer.
