"Whatever little knowledge I have about filmmaking, about cinema, how films are made, is because I had assisted him in Gangs Of Wasseypur and also because I've watched him working on the film-sets. The kind of person he is, does reflect in the kind of films he make. He's always exploring a new structure and a new language in his films. I know how particular he is about the casting in his films, because his films are mostly character driven".

"When he finalised me for the role in Raman Raghav 2. 0, it was a special feeling for me. I was teary eyed. He said 'I am looking for this part' and I can never forget these lines. It means a lot."

Vicky, who has been praised for his stellar performance in Masaan, says it is important for an actor to have a good working relationship with the director of the film.

"Anurag sir is a person who has seen me grow. I was 10 or 12 years old and since then, he has been with me. He knows me in and out. He's family to me. When you're working in such an environment, you feel that you're allowed to make mistakes because you know you'll be corrected without any judgement," he said.

Raman Raghav 2.0, which also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sobhita Dhulipala, releases on 24 June.
