Another beauty pageant winner is debuting in Bollywood with Anurag Kashyap's Raman Raghav 2.0 -- Miss Earth India 2013, Sobhita Dhulipala. But, is she just another model-turned-actress in the film industry?
Sobhita says that she had no plans to join Bollywood after winning the title. While talking to Catch in Mumbai, the actress explained how acting happened to her. She said:
"As a child, I was never really exposed to films. I have been more of a reader. I didn't think of acting as much. It's not that I didn't like it. However, Miss Earth India made me realise that there're many stories in myself that I would want to breathe life into. Slowly, I realised that I would like to be a part of this process, which is constantly evolving, creating, moving and is dynamic. I decided to give auditions. I learned Hindi. I then auditioned for Raman Raghav 2. 0 which happened to my first film audition."
She added:
"All I knew was that it's a film by Phantom. Auditioning for the role itself was a huge moment. And while I was walking the road after that, I got a call from the production team and they called me back."
Sobhita's performance in the video song, Qatl-E-Aam, has already been appreciated. The film, which also features Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vicky Kaushal in other pivotal roles, is releasing on 24 June.
