The poster bears the Haryavni tagline Mhari Chhoriyaan Chhoro Se Kam Hain Ke? (Are my daughters any less than sons?). The poster captures the essence of the film, which is based on the real life story of Mahavir Singh Phogat, who works to help his daughters achieve international recognition in the field of wrestling.
The Phogat family fought to break stereotypes to win laurels for India in the field of wrestling. While Mahavir is a senior Olympics coach, his daughters Geeta and Babita have won gold and bronze respectively for India at the international sporting arena.
Dangal, produced by Disney Studios, has been directed and written by Nitesh Tiwari. The film is set to release on 23 December.
