Speculations surrounding Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati have finally come to an end as the film is slated to go on floors on 1 October, 2016, with Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor.
The film's 'Mahurat' (Opening day) will be shot in Mumbai's Mehboob studios where Bhansali has created a huge set.
After that, a large part of the film will be shot in Filmcity, Mumbai, where the filmmaker has mounted a lavish kingdom.
The period drama will revolve around Alauddin Khilji's (Ranveer Singh) obsession for Mewar queen Padmavati (Deepika Padukone). Shahid Kapoor will be seen as Deepika Padukone's husband in the film.
The movie is slated to hit the big screen in Christmas 2017, loong with Tiger Zinda Hai and the Sanjay Dutt Biopic.
