Miss World 2019: From Aishwarya Rai to Manushi Chhillar, list of Indian women who wore the crown

The first Indian woman made the nation proud by winning the Miss World title in 1966. Apart from the crown, she was also honoured with the title Best in Swimsuit and Best in Eveningwear. Born in Mumbai 1943 Reita declined the movie offers after winning the beauty pageant and chose to focus on her medical studies. She went on to be a doctor and moved to London from the King’s College Hospital. Currently, She is residing in Dublin with her husband David Powell.

Aishwarya Rai

Bollywood’s diva made India proud after the gap of 28 years i.e she bagged the crown in 1994. Thereafter, she went on to become a veteran actress who gave many hits to the Indian industry. Aishwarya made her debut with Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film Iruvar in 1997 and since then there was no looking back for her. She gave big hits such as Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Jodha Akbar, Devdas Chokher Bali among others. Now she is married to Amitabh Bachchan’s son Abhishek and also has a daughter named Aaradhya Bachchan.

Diana Hayden

In the year 1997, Diana has crowned the title after Aishwarya. The actress who hails from Hyderabad appeared in several TV commercials including Bigg Boss 2 in 2008. The actress made her Bollywood debut with film name Tehzeeb in 2003 and then went on to star in Ab.. Bas, Othello: A South African Tale.

Yukta Mookhey

In the year 1999 Yukta won the beauty pageant and apart from this, she was also announced, Miss World Asia and Miss World Oceania. The actress entered the industry with an item song in Tamil film Poovellam Un Vasam and then made her Bollywood debut with Pyaasa in 2002 alongside Aftab Shivdasani.

Priyanka Chopra

Bollywood’s desi girl Priyanka Chopra won the Miss World title in the year 2000 and since then there is no looking back for the actress. After winning the title she received several offers from the entertainment industry and made her debut with Tamil film Thamizhan in 2002. Apart from giving big hits in Bollywood such as Barfi, Don, Bajirao Mastani, she has also made her debut in Hollywood with Baywatch in 2017. Apart from film, she has been part of the famous American TV series Quantico.

Manushi Chhillar

After the gap of 17 years, Haryana’s Manushi Chhillar was crowned Miss World. Soon to be an actress has appeared in commercials along with Ranveer Singh. Manushi is all set to mark her Bollywood debut alongside Akshay Kumar in YRF’s Prithviraj.
