Lata Mangeshkar briefly put on ventilator after serious lung infection; discharged from hospital, say report

Bollywood’s Nightingale Lata Mangeshkar, who was admitted to the Mumbai’s Breach Candy at about 2 am on Monday, is on the way to recovery. However, the legendary singer was having a chest infection due to which she was admitted.

As per the reports of Mumbai Mirror, the 90-year-old singer was responded to treatment and was discharged last evening.


Media reports suggested that the Dadashaeb Phalke winner was suffering from a viral chest infection. Earlier, she was treated at home and later, she was rushed to hospital after she complained of breathlessness.

Also, doctors told TOI that the 90-year-old was "critical" and "on ventilator".

"She is suffering from pneumonia along with left ventricular failure. She continues to be critical, but there has been some improvement in her condition over the last few hours," said internal medicine physician, Dr Pratit Samdan to TOI.

According to the close source of Lata didi, “She is stable and on the path to recovery by God’s grace.”

Also, a statement issued to the media that reads, “Lata Mangeshkar ji had viral chest congestion. Keeping her age in mind, as a precautionary measure, she had checked in to the Breach Candy Hospital to ensure antibiotics are administered on time to prevent any more infection,” Mumbai Mirror report said.
