The first ever radio awards of 2017 by a radio channel called, Hit Thhe Hit Rahenge, paid a fitting tribute to Late Mr. Madan Mohan for his evergreen song, 'Lag Jaa Gale' from the film 'Woh Kon Thi,' (1964).

His son Sanjeev Kohli (Music producer) accepted the award on behalf of him. This song was picked out of many others through a consumer voting system.

Commenting on the win, Sanjeev said, “It is a moment of honour for me to receive the award on behalf of my father. He has given some of the best and memorable songs of that era to the music industry. I am thankful to this radio channel to have recognised his exceptional talent and remember him in a most respectful manner by honouring him with'Hit Thhe Hit Rahenge' award.”

Lata Mangeshkar, who had sung the song under Madan Mohan's baton got nostalgic., "A lot of memories are attached with Madan Bhaiyya’s songs and there was this one thing he always used to tell me. After explaining how hte song is to be sung and what situation it is set in, he would then say, "I have tried to compose well. Now your responsibility is to sing it properly." I would try my best to do that and there have been times when I would ask for redoing it all over again. Sometimes he wouldn't be happy with it, sometimes I wouldn't be. But this particular song, we did it in one or two takes. It feels nice to hear that song even today, because it was written beautifully and it is an outstanding composition," she said.
