Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha will be seen working together in the official remake of the 1969 Bollywood film, Ittefaq that will be produced by Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar.

A murder mystery, Ittefaq featured Rajesh Khanna and Nanda in the lead roles and Sidharth-Sonakshi will be seen reprising these characters in the new one.

Interestingly, filmmaker Abhay Chopra was asked once if there was a film of his grandfather, BR Chopra or his dad, Ravi Chopra, that he would want to remake. To which, he had replied, Ittefaq.

The original film had been directed by Yash Chopra and the film itself was a rip-off of a British film, Signpost To Murder (1964), featuring actor Joanne Woodward.

The remake, which is being directed by Abhay Chopra now, is currently in its pre-production stage and is expected to go on floors by the year's end.
