Akshay Kumar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha which was initially slated to release on June 2 has been pushed by a couple of months and will now hit the big screen during the Independence Day 2017 weekend.
The shift of release date has resulted in a clash as the film will now lock horns with Shah Rukh Khan – Anushka Sharma’s upcoming film, reportedly titled Rehnuma. While there is no clarity about the reason for delay, we believe that the makers decided to move as the weekend biz of Toilet would have been affected by the Champions Trophy match between India and Pakistan on June 4.
The worldwide rights of Rehnuma have been sold for Rs 125 crore to NH Studioz and given the rates at which it is sold, it becomes very important of the Imtiaz Ali directorial to live onto the hype and rake in good amount of money to emerge a hit.
The two films will hit the big screen on August 11.
