IIFA 2016: Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone's Bajirao Mastani wins big, Priyanka Chopra bags a Special Award

As expected, this year's edition of the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA 2016) belonged to the Bajirao and Mastani of Bollywood, with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone taking home the awards for Best Actor (Male) and Best Actor (Female) for their performances in the opulent period drama.

While Sanjay Leela Bhansali bagged the Best Director award for Bajirao Mastani, Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan pipped Bhansali's period epic to win the award for the Best Film of 2015.

Priyanka Chopra was also honoured with a special award. She took home the IIFA 2016 Woman Of the Year Award.

The glitzy evening was hosted by Shahid Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar. The event was peppered with performances by Salman Khan, Tiger Shroff, Deepika Padukone and Sonakshi Sinha.

Best Background Score - Sanchit Balhara for Bajirao Mastani

Best Special Effects - Prasad Sutara for Bajirao Mastani

Best Costume Designing - Anju Modi and Maxima Basu for Bajirao Mastani

Best Song Engineer - Tanay Gajjar for Deewani Mastani, Bajirao Mastani

Best Debutant (Male) - Vicky Kaushal for Masaan

Best Debutant (Female) - Bhumi Pednekar for Dum Laga Ke Haisha

Jodi of the Year Award - Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty for Hero

Best Actor in Negative Role - Darshan Kumar for NH10

Best Actor in Comic Role - Deepak Dobriyal for Tanu Weds Manu Returns

Best Story Award - Piku

Best Dialogue Award - Juhi Chaturvedi for Piku

Best Song - Moh moh ke dhaage, Dum Laga Ke Haisha

Best Playback Singer (Male) - Papon for Moh moh ke dhaage, Dum Laga Ke Haisha

Best Playback Singer (Female) - Monali Thakur for Moh moh ke dhaage, Dum Laga Ke Haisha

Best Lyrics - Varun Grover for Moh moh ke dhaage, Dum Laga Ke Haisha

Best Screenplay - Kabir Khan, Parveez Shaikh, V. Vijayendra Prasad for Bajrangi Bhaijaan

Best Editing - A Sreekar Prasad for Talvar

Best Sound Mixing - Ajay Kumar PB for Badlapur

Best Make-up - Vikram Gaikwad for Datto in Tanu Weds Manu Returns

The four-day gala - which celebrates the magic of Hindi cinema at an international destination every year - began on 23 June.

Madrid is the fourth European destination to host the IIFA.
