Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania was one of the biggest Box Office surprises of 2013. The quirky love story won over audiences with solid performances, catchy music and a riveting plot. What's more, the leads, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt also paid a well-received cinematic tribute to Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol's iconic love story, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
Three years after the success of HSKD, Karan Johar has announced the sequel to the film. Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt will reprise the lead roles in the film. The sequel, directed by Shashank Khaitan, is set to establish the HSKD brand as one of Bollywood's first ever romantic franchises.
According to reports, the sequel will pick up from where Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania left off, which means that Varun and Alia will play a married couple in the film.
Karan Johar will announce details about the release date, shooting and the title of the film at 4PM on 3 May. The sequel, which will be produced under Karan Johar's banner, Dharma Production, marks Varun Dhawan's third collaboration with Alia Bhatt.
