Mohenjo Daro Box Office: No takers for this Hrithik Roshan film on Day 1

Hrithik Roshan's Mohenjo Daro is off to a poor start at the Box Office. The film raked in around Rs 8.87 crore on its opening day.

Despite getting a wider release than Rustom in India, the film has failed to attract viewers in the theatres across the board.

While a below-par opening was expected, considering the average response to the trailer and songs of the film, a single-digit opening Box Office figure comes as a surprise.

While Rustom was the first choice for the multiplex audiences, Mohenjo Daro has fared comparatively better at the mass circuits and the southern belt.

The Hrithik Roshan film has performed better than Rustom at Mysore, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala - while the Akshay Kumar film dominated at territories like Mumbai and Delhi.

The reviews of Mohenjo Daro are negative and the audience feedback is not too encouraging. The opening day numbers of the film, which was made on a budget of Rs 120 crore inclusive of print and publicity, are bound to spell losses for producers, Disney UTV.

The film may sustain its Friday figures till the four-day extended weekend. However, a crash in collections on Tuesday is inevitable.
