Actor Abhishek Bachchan has won over the audience with his comic timing in films like Bol Bachchan and Happy New Year. The actor, who gears up for the release of family Housefull 3, which also stars Akshay Kumar, in an interview with Catch revealed that the Indian audience has evolved to accept actors in different kind of roles.
"It is wonderful that actors today get the opportunity to do a film like Airlift and Housefull 3 in a single year. Earlier, actors were stuck in just one genre and the audience didn't accept you in anything else," said Abhishek.
Fourteen years after Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya, Abhishek Bachchan reunites with Akshay Kumar for Housefull 3. The actor is delighted to work with Akshay in a comic franchise like Housefull 3. He said:
"Sadly, I didn't have many scenes with Akshay in Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya. It was wonderful working with Akshay after 14 long years. I was very keen to work with him and I am glad that we got to work in Housefull (3) which is such a wonderful franchise to be a part of.
It is such a happy franchise. We are the first family comedy film that is coming out this year. There have been many good films this year, but they have been in the serious space. This is a perfect family film that you can go out for, laugh and have fun. It has all the ingredients to be a full Dhamaal (fun filled) film."
The actor reminisced about meeting Akshay Kumar on the sets of his film, Angarey.
"I first met Akshay in mid-'90s when I had come down for my school holidays in Mumbai. He was shooting for a film called Angarey and my friend Goldie Behl was producing it.
I was a big Akshay Kumar fan since I loved films like Mohra. It was always fun to chill with Akshay on the sets and he has been very loving and caring. He is a very sensitive person. Even when I was laid up, he'd keep calling me to ask how I was feeling. In fact, he even visited me twice. He is very protective about his friends," recalled Abhishek.
Directed by Sajid-Farhad, Housefull 3 releases on 3 June, 2016.
