'Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga' actor Anil Kapoor rejected 11 versions before giving yes to the title track

Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor's next Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga is going to release this week and the film is really being appreciating as it is being called as contemporary cinema. When the trailer came out it got to know that the film is about a lesbian love story. However, the title of the film has been taken from Anil Kapoor's hit film 1942 - A Love Story's song 'Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga'.

So when it came to recreating the old version of the song the music composer Rochak Kohli has gone through a lot of rejection. Rochak Kohli who composed the title track of the film told that producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and lead actor Anil Kapoor rejected her 11 versions of the song before finally giving a nod to this one.

 

Rochak Kohli told Mid-Day, "What you hear is the 12th version of the song. Vidhu sir and Anil were giving their inputs on the song and had not approved the previous 11 [iterations]. That their inputs are as simple as a 'working' or 'not working', implied that I had to figure out what was going wrong with each version."

He told that director Shelly Chopra Dhar helped him a lot while recreating the music. He further said, "We realised were comparing the song to the original, which is what the viewers could do too. So, we decided to only retain the hook line, and eliminate the other portions of the original. Since the song is set in Punjab, Gurpreet [Saini, lyriccist] added the vibe of the place, and that helped us hit the right chord."

 

Meanwhile, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa stars Sonam Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Juhi Chawla, and others in the leading role. The film is a directorial debut of Vidhu Vinod Chopra's sister Shelly Chopra Dhar.
