Dishoom has been banned in Pakistan and Varun Dhawan is very upset about this

Director Rohit Dhawan's buddy cop film -- Dishoom may have got a good opening in India, but the film featuring John Abraham, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Varun Dhawan has been banned in Pakistan.

The film's premise is set around an India vs Pakistan cricket match. And this is reportedly one of the reasons that it didn't go down well with the Pakistani Censor Board.

Varun, who plays the character of Junaid Ansari in the film, took to Twitter to express his disappointment over the news. He posted:

Earlier, in an interview with Catch, Varun had explained how Dishoom goes beyond the India vs Pakistan cricket match. He had explained that the film, which features actor Saqib Salim in the role of India's top cricketer -- Viraj, is inspired by recent real-life incidents in the cricketing world. He said:

"Whether it's the Lalit Modi scandal, Sreesanth case or Sri Lankan cricketers being attacked in Pakistan - these are the issues that people have witnessed in real life already and my film is based on these issues that the society has already dealt with."

Talking about how the film doesn't show any particular community in a bad light, Varun further explained at a media interaction:

"I would like to clear this. There is no negative reference to Pakistan or any community. It is a very positive representation. In fact, what we are trying to show is that for certain people money is their religion. It's not being an Indian, Pakistani, Hindu, Muslim or Christian. In the capitalistic world that we live in, money is the biggest driving force for most crimes."

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Sunil A Lulla, Dishoom also features Akshaye Khanna in a pivotal role.
