Disastrous opening day for Mirzya; Dhoni biopic drops on second Friday

Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra's Mirzya opened to a disastrous response at the Box-Office as the film raked in around Rs 1.75 crore on its opening day.

The movie, which marks the debut of Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher, failed to attract viewers to cinema halls throughout the day. Mirzya is one of those films whose fate is sealed on its opening day itself given the high budget and negative reviews.

The scope of improvement from here on looks unlikely and the lifetime collections of the film might settle around Rs 10 crore.

After a promising opening weekend, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story too witnessed a drop in collections on weekdays followed by a further drop on its second Friday. All versions of the film together collected around Rs 4 crore on day eight. The total collections of the biopic stand at approximately Rs 98 crore and the movie is now looking to settle its run at the Box-Office with collections close to Rs 115 crore.

Ideally, Dhoni should have been a winner post the weekend numbers; however, with the constant drop in collections, the producers might just manage to somehow break even thus making it an average affair.
