Director Meghna Gulzar's Raazi starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal was a surprising hit at the box office and it also became a turning point for Alia Bhatt's career. Not just for Alia Bhatt but it also helped director Meghna Gulzar and actor Vicky Kaushal to get one of the biggest hits of their career. The film did around 200 crores business all over the world.
With such an amazing response, reports were that the makers are planning to take forward the story of Sehmat Qazi (Alia Bhatt). Reports were even that Meghna Gulzar has started working the script for Raazi 2, however, now with the announcement of her next after Chhapaak, Meghna has clear all the air related to Raazi sequel and Sehmat's journey.
Pinkvilla quoted Meghna Gulzar by saying, "No, I think a sequel to the book is coming out, that would be the starting point for whatever has to begin (sequel) if it happens. Right now, I have other films in mind. For me, as a filmmaker, what we wrote in Raazi completed Sehmat’s journey."
