Composer Salim Merchant reveals why he hasn’t worked with Yash Raj Films in last 4 years

A case has been registered against the production house Yash Raj Films on Wednesday by the Indian Performing Rights Society (IPRS) over an alleged unauthorized collection of over Rs 100 crores in music royalty belonging to IPRS members, media reports said.

Now, a famous Bollywood music composer Salim Merchant who also worked with YRF has revealed shocking things in an interview with The Quint.


Salim Merchant, part of composing duo Salim-Sulaiman alleged that the two artistes have refuted to work with YRF for the last four years because the production failed to pay their dues.

"Yash Raj has been collecting money on behalf of the composer and lyricist – that much I know – but I don’t know whether they have paid anyone. They have certainly not paid me and Sulaiman", he told The Quint.

 

He also claimed that apart from Yash Raj Films, T-Series too hasn't paid dues to the artistes and that IPRS is in talks with the Bhushan Kumar led music label and production house. He added, "It’s Yash Raj and T-Series, these two companies have not been paying."

“I haven’t done a film with Yash Raj for the past four years. Not even T-Series,” Salim revealed the reason why he hasn’t worked with the two banners.

Notably, Salim Sulaiman had worked in Yash Raj Films like Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Mardaani, Rocket Singh: Sales Man of the Year, Band Baaja Baarat, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, Pyaar Impossible!, Aaja Nachle, Chak De! India and Neal n Nikki.
