Box office report: Kangana Ranaut’s Simran does better business than Farhan Akhtar’s Lucknow Central

Kangana Ranaut’s much talked about film Simran, which has been directed by Hansal Mehta, released last week. The film received mixed reviews but has managed to perform well. It was released in 1500 screens in India and saw growth in footfalls on Saturday and collected Rs. 10.56 crore. Simran is said to be made on limited budget of Rs. 30 crore.

The second release of the week was Lucknow Central, which starred Farhan Akhtar, Diana Penty, Deepak Dobiryal, Gippy Grewal, Ronit Roy and others. The film has been released in 1200 screens across India and is made on the budget of Rs. 30 crore approximately. The film opened well but could not see too much of growth in business on weekend. It has collected Rs. 8.42 crore.

Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar’s Shubh Mangal Savdhan has been doing well at box office in the third week as well. The film has earned Rs. 39.18 crore so far and has been declared a hit.

Next week Sanjay Dutt’s comeback film Bhoomi will release along with Shraddha Kapoor’s Haseena and Rajkummar Rao’s Newton.
