After rounds of discussion about the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Raees, the Cinema Owners and Exhibitors Association (COEAI) have concluded that they will not screen films starring Pakistani artists.

While interacting with the media, a member from the association said:

"Today the meeting of the Cinema Owners and Exhibitors Association took place and it was decided that keeping in mind the patriotic feeling and national interest of India, we request all our member exhibitors to refrain from screening movies which have involvement of any Pakistani artist, technicians, music composers etc. We the Cinema Owners and Exhibitors of India are also in the process of requesting other associations connected with the film industry to support the decision taken in the best interest of our country."

The COEAI, an association of exhibitors from Pune, Nashik and Bombay, do not have the authority to ban a film but can only request their members to refrain from screening them.

While Ae Dil Hai Mushkil stars Fawad Khan in a pivotal role, Raees will see the Bollywood film debut of Pakistani actress, Mahira Khan.

Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is slated to release on 28 October 2016.
