Anushka Sharma, Diljit Dosanjh to star in Phillauri, a romantic film set in Punjab

It seems to be the season of fresh pairings in Bollywood. Anushka Sharma and Diljit Dosanjh have signed on for Phillauri, an offering from the actress' home production, Clean Slate Films and Fox Star Studios.

The film, which is set in Punjab, will be directed by debutant Anshal Lal. Phillauri is going to be an 'unconventional romantic film' and will also feature Life of Pi actor Suraj Sharma.

Expressing her excitement about the film, Anushka said:

"Phillauri has a unique premise. It took almost 100 years, a crazy Punjabi wedding and rank strangers to complete this love story, and that's the crux of the film. Now what could possibly take a 100 years? And how does this fit into this story?

"That's the bit that you need to keep guessing! With loads of humor, fun and engaging drama happening all throughout, this film promises smart, wholesome entertainment. We at Clean Slate are excited to co-produce this special film with Fox Star Studios."

Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios said that the film was sure to impress audiences. He said:

The film goes on floors in April this year. Anushka is currently busy with Karan Johar directorial, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, while Diljit is shooting for Kareena Kapoor starrer Udta Punjab.
