After the clash between Sultan and Raees had been averted, it was reported that the Salman Khan film will face stiff competition from Rajinikanth's Kabali this Eid.

However, as per the latest buzz in the media, the Rajinikanth crime drama will hit the big screens a week prior to the original plans. Initially slated to release on 7 July 2016 (Eid 2016), Kabali will now see a worldwide release on 1 July 2016.

"The film was earlier slated to release in June. It has been now pushed to 1 July. The makers had also planned to release on 6 July but have advanced the release to avoid a clash with Salman Khan's Sultan," a source from films unit told IANS.

In the meantime, the teaser of Kabali has become the most viewed Indian teaser by garnering over 17.2 million YouTube views. The teaser went viral across the digital media and surpassed the YouTube record of Sultan and Dhoom 3 which had a little over 17 million views.
