After attacking Virat Kohli, Naseeruddin Shah now says, he feel anxious for his children in today's India
Veteran Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah says he is worried for his children in this today's India. The veteran actor was speaking on religion situation in the country and lynching incident happening.
Shah said he's worried because he imagines his children in a situation where they may be surrounded by an angry mob and asked: "are you Hindu or Muslim?"
"My children will have no answer," Naseeruddin Shah said, "Because we chose not to give religious education to our children,” he said in an interview with IndiaToday.
Bollywood veteran actor said there is a "poison" that has spread in the Indian society. "It will be very difficult to capture this djinn [genie] back into the bottle."
"There is complete impunity for those who take the law into their own hands," Naseeruddin says. "We have already witnessed that the death of a cow has more significance [in today's India] than that of a police officer."
"I was given a religious education...But Ratna [Pathak Shah, Naseeruddin's wife] did not get any religious education...[And] we chose not to give religious education to our children," Naseeruddin said. "So I fear for my children...Because if a mob gathers around them and asks them are you a Hindu or Muslim, they will not have any answer...Because they have no religion," Naseeruddin said before signing off with: "I am angry and I believe every right-thinking man must be angry and must not fear."
Recently, a few days back, Shah came in headlines after he slammed Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli for his on-field behaviour and said he is the world's best batsman but also the worlds worst behaved player.
Naseeruddin took to social media platform Facebook to criticise Kohli, where he wrote, “Virat K is not only the worlds best batsman but also the worlds worst behaved player.
