Revealed: Sidharth Malhotra to romance Alia Bhatt in Aashiqui 3

Aashiqui 3 has been in news for a while now, with fans of the franchise speculating about the lead cast.

The film, the third installment of one of Bollywood's most successful romance franchises, is expected to go on floors in 2017. The script of the film is currently being worked on.

In a surprise move, producer Mahesh Bhatt has announced his desire to cast rumoured off screen couple, Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt in the film. He told Mumbai Mirror:

"Aashqui is one of Vishesh Films and T-Series' most successful franchises and Mohit Suri will be returning as director. Right now it is work in progress, but I admit that based on the narrative, we have approached Sidharth and Alia to play the lead. But since both these actors are close to home, I would not like to proclaim from the rooftops just yet that it's a go-go till they officially sign the contract."

Aashiqui 3 director Mohit Suri is currently busy with the pre-production of Half Girlfriend which stars Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. The film will go on floors in May 2016 and the director is expected to start working on Aashiqui 3 from October 2016.
