Bengal villagers refuse to give two-headed snake to forest officials; here’s the bizarre reason!

People of Ekaruki village in West Bengal denied giving a two-headed snake to the city’s forest department officials who came to rescue the snake. The reason behind their denial is mythological beliefs.

According to the reports of ANI, Kaustav Chakraborty (herpetologist who studies reptiles and amphibians) said that it was purely a case of mutation and it had nothing to do with mythological beliefs.

A zoologist said the snake belongs to the Naja Kaouthia species. "This is totally a biological issue like a human being can have two heads or thumbs similarly this snake has two heads. This doesn't have to do anything related to mythological belief. The longevity of such species increases by keeping them in captivity. The life span of this snake can be increased if it is preserved,” Herpetologist Kaustav Chakraborty told the news agency.

Once the image of a two-headed snake surfaced the Internet, netizens started talking about the rare reptile and many have started making memes on it.
