Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh appeared before the city police today in connection with the probe of a recruitment scam at Madhya Pradesh Assembly secretariat.

The alleged scam took place between 1993 and 2003, when Digvijay Singh was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

Singh on 14 October arrived in Bhopal from a tour. He will reach the police station today. Singh has been summoned to the office of Jahangirabad area City Superintendent of Police Saleem Khan.

In February this year, Jahangirabad police had registered a case against Singh, former Speaker Sriniwas Tiwari and others for alleged forgery, conspiracy, cheating, misuse of office as well as offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act following a complaint filed by the Assembly secretariat about irregularities in recruitment during 1993 to 2003.
