The Supreme Court will be hearing three petitions in support of the bull taming sport Jallikattu in poll-bound Tamil Nadu, today.

On 13 January, the apex court had restrained the state government from conducting the controversial traditional sport Jallikattu and stayed the Centre's notification lifting the ban on it.

As per the reports published today in legallyindia, at 1.35 pm, the SC bench comprising Justices Gopal Gowda and Pinaki Chandra Ghose will hear three review petitions against the court's 2014 judgment which imposed a ban on Jallikattu.

The bench will review the petitions in exactly five minutes between 1:35 pm and 1:40 pm.

The review petitions have been reportedly filed by Arulmigu Muppillisamy Temple represented by its Trustee, P Rajasekaran, Tamil Nadu Perampariya Veera Vilayattu Mattu Vandi Kaalaigal State Welfare Association, and JK Ritheesh Kumar, State President (TVVJPKN Sangam), making the Animal Welfare Board, the petitioner in 2014, as the respondent.

On 20 January, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar had also stated that the Centre notification for allowing the sport in the state had not been quashed by the SC and that his Ministry would explain its case before the apex court.
