In another bone-chilling incident, a Kolkata woman mercilessly beats up her mother in law in South Kolkata's Gatia area over a mistake of plucking flowers without her permission. The neighbour of the woman filmed the entire incident and posted it on Social Media after which in no time it went viral.

In the video, that is widely shared on social media the footage shows the accused woman Swapna Pal repeatedly pulling the hair of her 75-year-old mother-in-law Jashoda Pal. The video within a few hours has received 5,03,000 views, 8,300 likes and 25,000 shares.

In the video, the daughter-in-law can be seen screaming at the old woman and then brutally beating her repeatedly.

The issue came to limelight after the video came into notice of an official of Bansdroni police station, Sgt Subhra Chakraborty that was filmed by the woman's neighbour and shared on the social media.

Rantu Sengupta, the person who shared the video, however, did not disclose the place of occurrence of the crime, despite the police assured to keep his identity safe. Police got details of Sengupta from his Facebook account and reached his house. After a long counselling, he revealed that he received the video from a doctor in Bholar Bazar area of Canning, reports.

A Facebook post by the Kolkata Police claims the elderly woman, Yashoda Pal, is a patient of amnesia and was being punished by the daughter-in-law for plucking flowers from the garden "without her permission." It further said the mother-in-law was subjected to physical abuse on a daily basis. Her husband had passed away several years ago, according to Deccan Chronicle.

An officer from Bansdroni police station said that accuse Swapna Pal was arrested on Wednesday and then, released on bail.
