Hyderabad encounter: Petition filed in SC seeks FIR, investigation and action against police

A day after all the four accused in the rape and murder case of Hyderabad veterinarian doctor in an encounter with the police, a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court (SC) seeking registration of FIR, investigation, and action against police personnel who were involved in the encounter, according to ANI.


As per the news agency, the petition has been filed by advocates GS Mani and Pradeep Kumar Yadav who are seeking the registration of an FIR against the police personnel who were involved in the exchange of fire.


Mani and Yadav have approached the top court saying the apex court’s 2014 guidelines were not followed.

Another petition was also filed in the top court seeking SC-appointed and monitored SIT into the Telangana encounter case.

The Petition filed by advocate ML Sharma also sought action against Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan and Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal 'for supporting extrajudicial killings'.


Meanwhile, Sandhya Rani, one of the activists who wrote to Chief Justice of Telangana High Court over the case said, "It was a barbaric rape & murder, we also demand severe punishment for real culprits but it is too early to judge that they were the culprits, how can we trust the police?"


Notably, all the four people accused in the rape and murder of woman veterinarian in were killed in an encounter with the police in the wee hours of Friday, between 3 am and 6 am.

The four accused--Mohammed Arif, Naveen, Shiva, and Chennakeshavulu killed in an encounter with the police when they had tried to escape while being taken to the crime spot.

The doctor was gang-raped and killed by the four persons before they burnt her body in Shamshabad area on November 27.
