Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bankroft have been the prime accused in the latest ball-tampering scandal. Australian Captain has already been awarded a one-match ban for the misdeed. However, there is still a lot of hue and cry around the incident for there are people in the cricket fraternity who consider the punishment awarded to the Australian skipper to be too lenient.

There is a faction of the cricket fraternity that is accusing ICC of discriminating while deciding the punishment for Steve Smith. And there are clouds of doubt on the future of the Australian cricketer with the talks of a lifetime ban doing rounds.

Moreover, there are talks of imposing a lifetime ban on the player. However, it would be an extraordinary step in the history of cricket to ban a player for a lifetime, for tampering with the ball but still remains one of the possible outcomes of the tampering scandal.
